Hadn't considered that option. Looking at the GT today, I was just thinking of the next logical tech that supersede driving passion like flappy paddles did to the stick.

Even if you were the only one out of 25 racers that had a gas pedal and that one thing was making you slower than the others? :)

Like a hand accelerator? I'm confused at what you're proposing.

I still don't understand what you're asking. What's the next "logical" step?

I care more about being in control than being the fastest ;) Although my friends DO have a point, I have a rather on/off approach when it comes to throttle modulation.
So I guess I'd ditch the gas pedal if it would benefit me in racing, but not on the streets.

I'd drive something, assuming it worked well, with joystick controls like the old 70s & 80s concepts, or maybe a motorcycle style twist throttle, or a trigger throttle like a weedeater, etc. Sounds like fun...what's not to like?

So, all hand controls?
I think you could do it, provided it was a car with ridiculously quick steering. To the point that you could keep both hands at 9 and 3, and never need to move either past noon.
Then do a throttle trigger for the right index finger, and brakes on the left. Upshift with a button under the right thumb, downshift with the left thumb.
If this were in a race car, then yes. Even better would be a UTV or dune buggy, so you could use your legs to hold yourself in the seat while bouncing around. A road car? No. Because then you'd need to keep both hands on the wheel at all times. Would suck for long road trips. Or text messaging. Or drinking a cappuccino.

More of a metaphorical question. I had a paraplegic schoolmate with handcontrols on his '86 Grand National. Brake boosting was awesome.

I replied on another post about a paraplegic schoolmate of mine that had hand controls on his '86 grand national. Brake boosting was accomplished by twisting the grip and pushing forward with the right hand and steering with the left. Worked pretty good!
